Obituary for Donna J. Lizotte
Donna J. Lizotte, 64, of Monmouth Beach, passed away unexpectedly on April 3, 2018 in Long Branch, New Jersey. She was a proud mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend to so many. Donna’s friendship and kindness toward others was cherished by those in her vibrant presence.
Born in Dover, NJ, she was the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Lis. Donna graduated from the County College of Morris and has spent her years as a Medical Technologist, most previously at Ocean Medical Center. She valued education and enjoyed learning about health, nutrition and her religion. She always encouraged her children to continue their education and pursue their dreams.
Donna was a very involved member at The Church of Precious Blood in Monmouth Beach, NJ. She enjoyed her faith sharing group and organizing the Sunday social events. Donna loved being a greeter at the church and attending all church activities. She lived among a wonderful community of friends in her beach town and enjoyed live music, dancing, laughing and good conversation. Her two grandchildren were her pride and joy and Grandma Donna never missed their sports, activities, and spending quality time doing arts and crafts and baking. She loved to travel and explore history, never coming home without a “treasure” from her travels. The ocean was her serenity and she took much joy in jumping the waves, feeding the seagulls, and taking endless walks in the sand. Watching the sunsets from the pier in her neighborhood was her favorite nightly activity. Donna’s zest for life was contagious and she was a shining star to those in her presence.
She is survived by her three children Megan McNally and her husband David of Tinton Falls, Jacqueline and her boyfriend Josef of Perry Hall, Maryland, and Craig of Dillon, Colorado, her two grandchildren “angel” Madison and “darling” Colin, her brother Gary Lis and his wife Marilyn of Mine Hill, NJ, and her four nephews, Michael, Adam, Gregory and Eric. She was predeceased by her father Henry Lis and mother Elizabeth Lis, and her stepmother Frieda Lis of Dover, NJ.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 9 from 4-8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch. Funeral, Tuesday at 11:00 am at Precious Blood Church in Monmouth Beach. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Our Lady of Perpetual Help to fund the Haiti Mission. This funds education for the Haitian children of the parish through Precious Blood Church. Please make checks payable to Precious Blood Church, 72 Riverdale Avenue, Monmouth Beach, NJ 07750 and include “Donna Lizotte” on the memo line.
