Obituary for Anne Elizabeth Feeney

Anne Elizabeth Feeney, a long time Denver resident and formerly a Jersey Shore girl, died suddenly and peacefully on March 22, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. Anne was about to embark on the next chapter of her life, having sold her house and planning a move to Florida. She was stricken with a heart attack while at the theater seeing her favorite show, Hamilton. Anne was 64.

Before moving to Denver, Anne wanted to work in fashion marketing and graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology. An injury sidelined her and she began a business career at Time Warner. She rode the train daily to NYC from her home in Long Branch, NJ. Time Warner gave her the opportunity to transfer to their Denver office. She looked forward to a change from the ocean to the mountains and already had some friends and family there. When that office closed, she had a long career in accounting at Western Sugar and most recently was working at Einstein Bagels- a job she loved. Anne was a graduate of Long Branch New Jersey High School, the New York Fashion Institute of Technology with an A.A. degree and Monmouth University with a B.S. in Business Administration. Anne loved the arts and served as a Commissioner of Art in Public Places for Aurora for 7 years. She frequently attended the theater, concerts and the opera. She served as a council member in the Arapahoe County Cultural Council and was a volunteer at the G7 summit in Denver in 1997. She contributed to her community having served on the homeowner’s association board both as president and member.

Anne is survived by her 4 sisters, Lynn (Gus) Feeney Weiland, Karen Feeney, Diane Carter and Janet Feeney. Her parents Henry and Julia and her brother Robert pre-deceased her. She also leaves five nephews – Matthew and Bryan Cohen (Lynn) and Anthony, Michael and James Feeney (Robert), two nieces Erin Mickel (Diane) and Meghan Feeney (Robert) and a great-nephew Harrison (Erin) as well as Earl and Marylou Feeney (her aunt and uncle) and many cousins and friends. Anne is also survived by her dear and loyal Denver “sisters” Catie May, Linda Tiehen, Joann Colangelo, Gaby Diaz and Carinne Wickman.

Anne was a dear, thoughtful and loyal daughter, sister and friend. She was the life of the party and would want all to continue getting together and enjoying each other, after raising a glass to her memory.

A memorial service was held in Denver and a memorial gathering will also be held at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave. in Long Branch on Sunday, May 20 from 11 am until the time of the Celebration of Life at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Denver Health Foundation in honor of Anne and the excellent care she and her sisters received there.
