Obituary for Gideon C. Burton
Gideon C. Burton, age 94 of Middletown, died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, August 8, 2018. Born in Coatesville, PA, he previously lived on Long Beach Island and Holmdel. He served our Country honorably in the US Navy during WWII after which he graduated from the American Institute of Banking and enjoyed 42 years in the banking industry. He started his career at Girard Bank in Philadelphia and retired in 1989 from United Jersey Bank in Ocean County. He was a Board Member of Ocean County Mental Health, President of the Ocean County Banker’s Association, a past member of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Woodlake Country Club.
He was predeceased by his beloved daughter Diane Welsch in 2013. Gideon was a kind and gentle soul. He will be lovingly remembered by his family, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11:30 am at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1040 Chestnut Tree Road, Honey Brook, PA. Interment will follow in the Burton family plot at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. The family invites you to leave a letter of condolence, light a memorial candle or make a memorial donation by selecting the appropriate tab.
