Obituary for Mary "Dottie" Becker

Mary “Dottie” Becker, age 81 of Eatontown, died Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch. Dottie was born in Englewood, NJ and was a life resident of Eatontown. She was the owner and operator of the Happy Pickle Saloon in Long Branch and the past president of the West End Tavern Owners Association

"Beware of Dottie, the dog is OK" was a sign that hung prominently at her establishment. She had a tremendous affection for animals, especially dogs. She loved animals because she said they only know what you teach them. She took immense pride in her family and friends. Dottie was the type of person that if she liked you, you knew it and if she didn't, you know that too. She didn't care about the color of your hair, you skin or what name you gave your God. She believed greatly in Angels and was always there to help others whenever she could.

Dottie was predeceased by her husband, William J. Becker; her son, Richard Glen Becker; her sister Winnie Voss and her nephew Daniel Wymbs. Surviving are her son and daughter in law, Steve and Joann Becker; three grandchildren, Jessica Marie, Michelle and Melissa; one great grandchild, Eddie and her nephew Mark Wymbs.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 22 from 6-8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Ave., in Long Branch. Funeral, Tuesday; 11:00 am from the funeral home with the service to begin at 11:30 am. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum in Oceanport. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Monmouth County SPCA, 264 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724.
