Anthony J. Torchia, age 59 of Long Branch, died Monday, October 22, 2018 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Tony was born in Long Branch where he lived most of his life. He loved the City and stopping to say hello to everyone he met. Tony enjoyed music and playing the drums. He graduated Long Branch High School in 1978 after which he worked in the meter shop for NJ Natural Gas and several plumbing supply houses.

Later in life, his mental illness plagued his mind…but never his heart, which was as big as the moon! He will be eternally missed and loved.

He was predeceased by his dear mother and father, Brigida and Felice Torchia and a brother in law, Salvatore Marsico. Surviving are his siblings: sister, Rosina and husband Antonio Morello of Long Branch; sister, Antonietta Marsico of Jacksonville, Fl; brother, Pompeo Torchia and wife Linda of Eatontown; brother Frank Torchia of Eatontown; sister, Angie Henschel and husband Doug of Long Branch, along with a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 from 5 - 8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch. Funeral, Saturday, 8:30 am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 9:30 am at Star of Sea Church in Long Branch. Entombment will follow at Woodbine Mausoleum in Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to CPC Behavioral Health, c/o Monmouth County PACT Team, 270 Rt. 35, Red Bank, NJ 07701 in gratitude for their loving care of Tony throughout the years.
