Raymond D. Cook, Sr. age 84 of Eatontown, died Friday, November 9, 2018 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Born in Long Branch, he had lived in Eatontown for the past 8 years. Ray was a retired driver for United Parcel Service and served as a fireman at Monmouth Park Race Track in Oceanport. He was a member of the Neptune Hose Company of Long Branch Fire Department where he served as Chief in 1978 and was instrumental in starting the Long Branch Fireman’s Softball League. Ray was also a member of the Eatontown Elks Lodge 2402 and the VFW Post 2226 Oakhurst. He served his Country honorable in the US Navy.

He was predeceased by his sons, Charlie in 2010 and Thomas in 2013. Surviving are his wife Phyllis Cook; his son, Raymond "Buddy" Cook, Jr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Darren Flynn; his brother, Robert “Butch” Cook; his 3 sisters, Shirley Johns, Joyce Angerio and Betty Thorne; 6 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 13 from 4-8 pm at the Damiano Funeral Home, 191 Franklin Avenue in Long Branch. Funeral, Wednesday; 10:30 am from the funeral home with a service to begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Monmouth Beach Veterans Association, 11 Griffin Street, Monmouth Beach, NJ 07750.
