Obituary for Joan K. Palaia
Joan K. Palaia, age 94 of Jackson, died on April 14, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Palm City, Florida. Born in Jersey City, she had lived in Oceanport before moving to Jackson 9 years ago. Joan was a secretary for Shore Regional High School in West Long Branch for over 30 years before retiring in 1991. She was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church in West End, Long Branch.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph F. Palaia in 1978. Surviving are her 2 daughters, Doreen D’Elia and husband Anthony D'Elia of Palm City, Florida and JoAnn Trufolo and husband Dr. Santo Trufolo of Jackson; her brother, Eugene Kelly, Jr. of Bethel, Maine and 2 sisters, Vonnie Spillane, of Hurst, Texas and Dorothy Hall of Wall, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 21 at 10:15 am at St. Michael’s Church, 800 Ocean Avenue in Long Branch followed by an interment at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. The family invites you to write a letter of condolence, share a story or make a donation by selecting the appropriate tab.
