Obituary for Deacon Edward R. Herr

Deacon Edward R.  Herr
Deacon Edward R. Herr, age 77, of Oceanport, passed away Friday, June 15, 2018. He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology. Over the course of his professional career, he served as Engineering Manager with the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command at Ft. Monmouth for 26 years and as a Senior Engineer and Program contractor with BAE Systems and other government contractors before retiring in 2010.

Deacon Ed was ordained a Deacon of the Roman Catholic Church in 1989, and served as a Deacon with St. Dorothea’s Church in Eatontown through 2017. In addition, he was a member of the Eatontown Knights of Columbus and the Oceanport Lions Club.

Deacon Ed was predeceased by his parents Edwin and Tinie. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Camille Herr, his daughter Laura Herr and son-in-law Louis Almerini of Red Bank, his grandson Jason Almerini of Hoboken, and many loving cousins, family and friends.

Visitation will be held at St. Dorothea’s Church, Eatontown on Tuesday June 19th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral mass will be Wednesday June 20th at 10:00 am at St. Dorothea’s. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. Kindly omit flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, PO Box, 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101.
