The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Robert Anthony Wells can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Mr. Wells

In my earliest recollections of Mr. Wells, I spent the first few months thinking he was only a pair of legs.  Every time I went to Mike's house, Mr. Wells would be under the car in the garage fixing something on the vintage Hupmobile.  It was until months later that I got to meet the entire Mr. Wells.  As we were both in the banking industry at the time, we had good conversations and he was always interested in my progress.     One of the most impressive traits of Mr. Wells was his respect for life--- all lives.  He wouldn't kill a spider or a wasp in the house.  He would capture them and let them go outside.  He loved his dog, Ticky.  There's a great picture on this site with him, Ticky and the Hupmobile.     He must have had a lot of patience with Mike.  Mike had nowhere near the mechanical knowledge that Mr. Wells had but he would, from time to time, let Mike borrow one of their cars for our weekend partying.  One time, Mike and I went to a party in Interlaken with a vintage 4-speed Renault.  The engine overheated and since it was the first rear-engine car we ever drove, Mike and I proceeded to put water where the oil belonged.  Needless to say, Mr. Wells had a lot of work to do to fix the engine.  If he ever got angry at Mike, I never knew about it.  I know I would have been livid if my kids did that, but then again, I never knew enough about cars to own a vintage one or have the patience to lend it to my kids.   Mr. and Mrs. Wells did a great job raising their children.  I'm glad I was able to get to know the entire family.
